Capturing Trees in Paris
A season can make a city feel completely different. Personally I love to visit Paris but the trees in the city can really transform the beauty of the place. The trees in autumn naturally just look amazing, but what about wintertime?
You would think the barren, empty trees wouldn't add much to a photo but I had great fun snapping away around the Eiffel Tower framing shots through the silhouettes of many overlapping branches.
This was a favourite shot of mine from the weekend. And there were endless framing opportunities! Shall I keep the Eiffel Tower in focus? Out of focus? Frame it? Have the branches take up the entire frame? And so forth. And I feel my friends were actually rather patient throughout the whole process.
The evening turned very cold and misty (The disadvantage of going in winter.) However I prefer cold and misty to "torrential downpour" which we experienced earlier in the afternoon waiting to visit Musée d'Orsay. The rain actually forced me to reluctantly buy a terrible, but cheap, umbrella from a man on the street selling things, conveniently ready for unprepared tourists like me!
A great chance to test out my Prime lens. (Canon 50mm, f/1.4) I love the silhouette of the trees here, and you can still tell it's the Eiffel Tower, right?
This could be anywhere really but I assure you it's Paris, I just thought it looked cool.
I hope you enjoyed this little snapshot into Paris in winter. I might do a blog post of my trip in autumn a few years ago as a comparison some time.
