Skylines and Sunsets
I've only been to New York once but I loved it. You don't need to spend forever there, you can get a lot done each day if you plan, but it's a fun place to be.
I loved it for taking photos there was always something happening, something interesting around the corner. The buildings were pretty cool. I didn't really have the right lens so getting the buildings framed correct did prove a challenge at times when you're being surrounded and overwhelmed by buildings all around.
I'll do a separate post with all the photos I took from the street "looking up". But if your lens isn't right and you're struggling...stand back and get a shot of the skyline. Mix that with a great sunset and you're laughing.
You can't really go wrong with the Manhattan skyline. I'd have preferred the outdoor football pitch not to be in the foreground but it will do. Although having said that imagine if that was your location for a Friday night kick about!!
Just because in focus skylines are too mainstream here's a shot of the fence. I really like this shot and the sunset isn't even that spectacular. It seems to capture the "New York City at night" feeling.
And if you still feel in-focus skylines aren't your thing but you don't like fences then maybe you prefer elbows?! The colours in the sky look great here, they seem to change so fast from top to bottom.
Carry on a little further and this nice man was happy to pose for a photo. City Photography for me isn't necessarily beautiful but it captures the urban landscape, the culture and the life of that particular place. Little details like this often look cooler than you think, especially when you get a nice sunset behind them.
