Parisian Mood - DunlopPrints Blog #1

If you’re new to the blog let me explain a little bit about it: I have a print store on Etsy (DunlopPrints) so I thought it would be a nice idea to create a blog to go into a little more detail about the story behind each print photograph. I love travel photography, experiencing new cultures and seeing unique and different places around the world. I’m starting with on of the Eiffel Tower - One of my first prints on the store.

“Towering Trees” Print on DunlopPrints

I’ve been to Paris a few times now - I usually travel on the EuroStar, it’s an easy and quick way to get into the City from England. Visiting in Autumn really changes the experience, the trees that line the streets are beautiful and add a unique character to the place. This print was taken in Winter and the bare but photogenic trees make for interesting framing opportunities.

I tried capturing the trees in front of the Eiffel Tower as there was something about the interesting silhouette created. This last image image didn’t quite work but you can see the inspiration for the photograph used in the print starting to form.

We found the Port de Bir-Hakeim (the steel bridge used in the inception film) It has two levels, one for motor vehicles and the other for the Paris Metro train, running along the top. This was a really cool place to photograph, I especially liked the retro lights that hung down underneath the Metro level.

This industrial steel character is actually very similar to that of the Eiffel Tower when up close. Not something always seen in images the tower usually gets shown in it’s full glory but I also love the details up close too.

Every building in Paris, whether significant or not has a certain charm and artistic flavour to it, just walking along the river Seine is a delight, surrounded by beautiful architecture, pretty trees and street side cafes and book sellers by the water’s edge.

Take a trip North out of the centre of the city and you get some amazing views overlooking the city somewhere close to Sacré-Cœur, a church in the Montmartre area. Just seeing the city from this spot is great but depending on the time of day and weather it can really change the mood, as shown in the following pics from the same spot.

And finally what would a trip to Paris be without pastries and cake?! Window shopping takes on a whole new level while in Paris…

Thanks for taking a little look at my blog of my adventures in Paris. My store DunlopPrints has some of these images for sale along with lots of others from India, China, USA and more. Thanks for taking a look. Any prints you’d like to see the blog of let me know, more of my print photography blogs can be found by clicking here.
