Visiting Scotland when the Trees are Pleasing - The Problem with Autumn
I, like most photographers, love autumn! The wonderful trees with their beautiful colours just make any photo look great. But then that's the problem, without the trees and the leaves autumn is nothing more than a miserable few months. Every year I say how much I love autumn and every year it seems to come and go and just pass me by. There's only so many photo opportunities to be found on a housing estate in the East Midlands. But this year I was actually in Scotland in autumn and yes it has confirmed it, I love Autumn.
We went on a road trip around Loch Eck, looking for some fishing spots. (Naturally I wasn't fishing, you can guess what I was busying myself with.) The trees were amazing though. So many beautiful colours together in the same small patch of forest.
I even got a "Middle of the Road" shot. Don't know why I like these so much, maybe it's the jeopardy of a motorist ready to strike. Thankfully there were no electric cars sneaking up on me.
While we sat there, in the mist, waiting for fish, what else could I do but take pictures of the view in front of us. It wasn't the warmest of days but it did make for an atmospheric mist so I can't complain. And we did have some homemade rocky road to keep our spirits high.
This shot just seemed to capture the mood. I liked it so much I turned it upside down. The reflection was so still I thought it would illustrate that nicely being upside down. The trees just seem to disappear into the horizon, spooky.
Here is a rock. Isn't it a nice rock.
Jacob, our fisherman for the day. He thought he spotted a nice photo opportunity on a rock out in the Loch. let's just say it was a good idea until he decided to come back to the shore.
He did make it back and we continued fishing until the sunset. It was a fun day, I've never tried fishing before. A great chance to take lots of pictures of autumn trees at the same time too.
Just like this day of fishing, autumn seems to come to a close all too quickly. That's the other problem with autumn. No sooner than you've got your camera and gone out to take some pictures of autumn trees - winter is here! Next year, though, I'll be prepared.
